2021 - The Year in Review

Trier. We look back on an eventful year 2021. A year with many important decisions for the future, but also drastic dramatic warning signals. The natural disaster in July with unimaginable destruction caused by floods, made us all aware of how fragile the Earth system has become and how important it is to act quickly. The state election in Rhineland-Palatinate in March and the federal election in September were significantly influenced by the issues of climate change and energy transition. The new coalition agreement in Rhineland-Palatinate raises many expectations that must now be met. The same applies to the agreement of the new traffic light coalition in Berlin- the signs for renewables are green.
Unfortunately, also in 2021 the corona pandemic continues to have a lock on us. All our daily lives are still significantly determined. Unlike many other sectors, however, the wind industry has been in the happy position of not having to cope with a hard lockdown. In September, we were even able to visit our industrial meeting point, HusumWind, with a small team. But already in December we had to cancel our small Christmas party again.
In connection with dealing with the pandemic, we are concerned about the increasing social division and growing readiness to use violence. Let us take care of each other and not allow our fundamental values to be further undermined by right-wing extremist aspirations!
2021 was also a special year for DunoAir. The planning team in Trier has grown to now ten employees. In Hesse, we were able to participate in our first citizens' market, in North Rhine-Westphalia we were able to win a landmark court decision, in Saarland we received another permission and in Rhineland-Palatinate a project is about to be approved after 10 years of processing.
In the coming year, we expect approvals for another five wind farms. And we are working on getting our first home project at the Moselle realised. We are looking confidently towards 2022 and looking forward to an exciting time.
Stay healthy, enjoy the once again ‘different’ festive season – merry Christmas and a happy new year!
