Weibern-Rieden Wind farm

The Weibern-Rieden wind farm is divided between two local communities. As a result, planning and consent were comparatively costly and time-consuming but it was nevertheless completed successfully in 2011. The first four wind turbines were connected to the grid in the summer of 2011 with the last two turbines following in the spring of 2012. The Weibern-Rieden wind farm is expected to produce 22.7 million kWh of electricity a year which means a saving of 11,900 tonnes of CO2 and 11.6 tonnes of sulphur dioxide.
